I have a ton of Beta and VHS tapes I would like to burn to dvds. Have any of you guys done this? Are there different ways to do it? I've seen some dvd recorders, but how can you spruce up the video quality before you transfer? Is there a pc software needed? Any help/advice would be very appreciated.

I've dubbed a bunch of stuff w/ a dvd/burner/vhs combo unit. Works pretty well though I didn't consider cleaning up any vhs' before dubbing.
I'm sure there's a way but I'd guess you'd have to digitize the vhs to a pc/mac to use some editing software first. Someone around here probably has a decent grip on this issue.
Not me.

I have the Toshiba D-VR4XSU.
One drawback, it doesn't recognize +R dvd's.
There are a bunch out there now so I'd check around. My unit is going on 2 yrs. old.
