hey i was planning to go down to moe.down this year, but i heard through the grapevine that the scene is HORRIBLE, women getting raped, cocaine use rampant, but in an interview page mcconnell said he enjoyed being there last year and they were fine. has anyone been there and can clear up the messy rumours about moe.down?

Ill begin, although I havent been to the last two. I havent heard of those rumors of rape and such. Certainly not saying its not possible, 3 nights on the side of a mountain with lots of drugs and alcohol and a younger crowd per se, but I havent ever herd of rape.

As for the coke, to each his own i guess. Im sure there is alot of it, but with my experiences of moe.down 3,4,5 i dont feel it was any more dangerous than any other festivals. My scene would be more of the weed, schroom, hallucenigen type drugs, nothing i would personally consider "hard" drugs. But there are balloons, pills, coke im sure, and im sure harder stuff, but maybe the peers I went with and hung out with made it seem like the "harder stuff" wasnt there.

Ill say this, moe. is a great band, their fans are great, and from whom I met in the band, Al, Chuck, Rob, and Vinny, (was a friend of a friend of a friend that knew the boys, got to meet them before leo kottke kicked it all off, with a cameo from mike gordon during the encore, the first of any phish member to perform after the break up,) they themselves do this festival every year for the fun. If things get out of control at the campsites after hours, Ill assure you, thats not what moe. is trying to accomplish.

I say go, have a blast, medeski scofield martin and wood will be sick, moe.'s 6 sets will be killer and the scene will be fine. just be safe and drink alot of water

My concern would be "if I go, how much is Moe. gonna suck?"

Sorry, couldn't resist. I do like them, not hugely into them by any means, but my problem with Moe. is half the shows I've been to have been sick, and the other half have been extrememly lackluster. Can't seem to catch a break.

If they play like they did at AllGood this year, I'd say you're in for a helluva sick show. Easily the best I ever saw them (only seen them 3 times) and I heard a lot of folks who are more into them than I talking about how they thought it was the best show they ever saw them play. Their new album is pretty good. I think you'll really be glad you went.

was that really an exceptional show? some of the friends i went with seemed to think so, but i wasnt impressed in the least. sounded like one long song to me, and way too rigid and almost metal-like. guess if that didnt do it for me nothing of theirs will.

the only problem with moe.down is that its a moe fest

and moe is boring



otherwise check out other bands like medeski scofield martin and wood their stuffs awesome

I've been going to the down for years now and theres never been any rape or the like. I love the scene there If anything I'd describe it as Goofy. I'll be there, it's a great time every year

moe.down is a throw.down.
It is my favorite fest. It is a 5 minute walk from your car, to your campsite, to the stage.

The weather is nice and cool. Not that a festival in
TN in June, or WV in July isnt 110 degress of humid ass fun, but its nice have some energy.

No real lines to get in.

The moe.rons are pretty cool. Not too sketchy, well fed kids, really. Pretty funny too.

and moe. is good. I like em. Ya gotta like guitar solos.

Other than the normal sketchy kids at any other fest Its a nice scene
