I've been playing for about 3 years. I have the major scale down rock solid up and down the neck, and a very good idea of modal potentials (although i always feel like there's something missing).

but i'm just lost as far as general leads go. For example, sure i can solo over brown eyed women with an e major, and even try to hit notes of each chord change, but it just sounds very, bleh. It's not interesting, it doesn't have highs and lows.

I could use some help on what you more experienced players use to solo over a progression.

help would be much appreciated
