Well for a good while ive had a good pool of music to listen too, school is now out for me and im going to New York for a week to see my fellow New York jews. Im officially out of music, the Deads always there but I need more then that. I like Phish, Quicksilver, Hot Tuna, Lou Reed, Neil Young lately amoung others. I dont really want anymore jam band stuff to be honest, unless you think it would be really perfect. Thanks a lot.

really no jam bands? heres a few for you then

Beatles, Stones, The Band, Black Crowes, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Hendrix, anything with Clapton (Blind Faith, Cream, Derek and the Dominoes), Joe Satriani, Allman Brothers, Medeski Martin and Wood, Little Feat (last few border on jam band, but are well worth the recommendation IMO)

If you are trying to broaden you're horizons, try out some reggae. I particularly enjoy it in the summer. Bob Marley (get past the greatest hits, he has a lot of albums), Jimmy Cliff (esp. The Harder They Come disc), Peter Tosh

You should also take a look at the recent jazz/blues thread if you're into that, some real good suggestions there.

Im lookin for some more "solid" bands if that makes any sense. Ive listened to about 2.5 to 3.5 hours of Dead a day for the last year so...

by "solid" do you mean like undercover brother "solid", like soul bands. Cause if so check out some live otis redding, james brown, Old school areatha franklin and ray charles,taj mahal, big brother and the holding company, richie havens, and sly and the faimly stone.

I always go back to the blues during the summer time. Muddy waters and buddy guy and the lot.

How do you feel about Bluegrass? Del McCoury, Doc Watson, etc.

If not, how about Talking Heads, Wilco, The Meters, Stevie Wonder.

When you say "solid", I'm gonna assume that you're talking good albums all the way through - no one-hit-wonders, or fluffed up rock bands.

So much great music out there. The GD aren't going anywhere, so discover some other stuff...

the black crowes, i absolutly love them. i could listen to them all day, and my other recommendation is mr bob dylan, so much music to love that it wouldnt get old.
