((((Didnt know where to put this, or if i should put it at all, i am new, so redirect me if i seem out of place)))) but...

i have always been plagued (as i am sure nearly everyone is) by the task of picking a band name. I have always thought that band names that pay homage to your heroes (namely the Dead and Jerry of course) are very cool. I was pondering over the name "The Cats Under the Stars" (in reference of course to the Garcia Band album), but i thought that a name such as that might suggest that we are a Grateful Dead cover band (we will of course cover the dead, but we plan to play original material). I though about tweaking it, and came up with the idea of just adding an 'i' and making it "The Cats Under the Stairs".

with a quick google search i discovered that this was the title of a "Cats UNder the STars" reissue with 7 bonus tracks. However, i thought that my modification would not be so close to the original as to suggest a cover band.

Just wondered if anyone had opinions on if this name is good, and whether or not it invokes for you the image of a GD or Garcia cover band.

Again, if i am out of place posting this here, please correct me.

THanks!

i like it. Im not a big fan of when bands have some wierd name thats a word they found in the dictionary.
I think that it suggest just what you want, im assuming you kind of have a gd, jerry esk sound??? I think when ever some thing is referenced to garcia, rather then the dead(at least IMO) it has a much broader conotation.

Yeah thanks Ker. We are definently going for a GD or Garcia-esque sound, we dont have a lot of material worked out, but we've got inspiration. i think we will probably go for it
