I'm listening to DP vol 1 (12-19-1973) now, and I realized that the "Here Comes Sunshine" that starts this album is by far the best I have ever heard!!

I could also say that the "Eyes of the World" from the So Many Roads boxset (same as the Greatful Dead Movie) from 19 Oct 1974 is the best that I've ever heard.

Perhaps there are better, but I like to think that the best Scarlet-Fire that I've heard is on the 5-8-77 bootleg.

I'm kinda curious - What other BESTS are there? I know you could argue that all the music is pretty smokin', but I'm just looking for the best of the best.

Cool - since you both agree that HC sunshine from 2-15-73 is top 5, any tips on where I can get a copy of it? Is it commercially available, or do I need to download somewhere?

This thread could go on forever becuase everyone disagrees on every song. However there was a mix that someone put together that was a version of the "most popular" version (according to deadbase) of almost every gateful dead song. I downloaded the mix a few years back but I don't know from where. And I leant it to a friend to get them into the dead. So I don't even have it in my possesion. However I know it exist somewhere.

that Here Comes Sunshine from DP1 is just mindblowing, one of my all-time favorite dead songs, just gives me a rush or something. also in that song, jerry plays a riff that is also in the Dark Star from 9-19-70 (IMO, one of the essential dark stars as well). and i keep seeing the Eyes of the World from the movie on here, and i'll admit it is one of my faves, but what about the Eyes from DP 14? its amazing

You're right, I did forget HtH. But no way it's 8-6-71. It's 4-27-71. :)

I just listened to it again and there's no way there's a better version.

4/27 and 4/29/71 are great. I think the 8/6/71 version is better in the way they build it up, and it's an audience show so you can hear the crowd freaking out. They're all good to me. I would like to find the best Easy Wind.

My favorite Good Lovin' is the one with Pigpen's Brooklyn Bridge rap at end. I think it was a show from 1970 in Princeton, NJ.

Does anyone know what I'm talking about?

This was one of the first tapes I ever had of the Dead, but I haven't heard or seen it for a long time. The setlist also had Bertha, GDTRFB, King Bee, Big Boss Man and others (in particular order).
