Pedal Review: Compressors

Bottom line, this is by far the best compression pedal on the market. It offers 2 compressors in one. On the right side is the Dan Armstrong O.S. juicer, which gives a real plucky tone that sounds great with my Tele, especially chicken pickin. Think Steely Dan type tone and compression. It only has a volume knob that controls the level of the compression. It's really great for clear rhythms where you want alot of clarity in individual notes. I prfer to only use a clean or slightly overdriven tone with the juicer.
On the left is the famed Ross compressor. It has a volume and sustain knob. It rally squeezes everything together and will sustain notes for days. I use this side for all my leads. It just brings out so much clarity in each individual note and makes my guitars breath, especially my semi hollow Epi Sheraton II. I couldn't imagine playing a lead without it.
The one negative is you can actually turn both on at the same time (Iguess some people might like this option). For me this is annoying because if I am playing a rhythmic pattern on the Juicer and want to switch to the ross for a lead, I literally have to turn off the Juicer and then turn on the Ross. Optimally I would love it if activating one autmatically turned off the other. For this reason the pedal gets a 9.9 instead of a 10. To kind of work around this hat I do is activate the Ross while the juicer is still on and then turn off the Juicer. This way there isn't any dramatic loss of volume and tone for that split second switch.
