Hey Now,
I remember reading here somewhere about a timing difference between Aiko and Women r Smarter
My friend and I were playing them the other night from one into another and I was playin them at the same speed. sounded cool to me but was curious on what some of you guys think.
Help on the way???
thanks
Pistol

The timing of going from the IV to the I or the I to the V depending on how you look at it is different. Women R Smarter switches a beat early.

It's definitely a I-V-V-I progression.
I never thought of either one as switching early (i'll have to look into that), but Aiko is a lot more snycopated, looser and funkier in feel. Just don't play both songs in the same show and you should be OK!

I'm sorta with ts on this one. I never really noticed a difference. The way in which you strum and whether you hit the strings on the "off beat" can give the feel of a timing difference but that wouldn't change the basic structure.
Then again I'm a technidiot.

Okay let's try to break it down some...
It's all 7 beats, right?
Aiko:
D D D D D D D
D D D D D A A
A A A A A A A
A A A A A D D
WAS:
E E E E E E E
E E E E B B B
B B B B B B B
B B B B E E E
And there ya go.

I thought it was only 5 beats per measure for both of them. Then again I find this song is easier to play by just remembering the groove instead of counting on the beat. I don't have a guitar in front of me (wasting time at work and all) but i think i play them the same. Just a different key.

I thought these songs were in 4/4.

Yes, 4/4. When I said beats I meant more of the the tempo or strums not the timing.
