im thinking of buying one soon, i have a gibson sogrwiter deluxe and im looking for a different tone for different applications, whenever i may need it

I believe these are actually Bob Weir models. I've had mine about a year and a half, and the one on eBay at the moment is even more highly figured than mine. Mostly, I've used this guitar for when I need to plug in. However, for the past two months I've been playing this guitar exclusively. As a day to day guitar, the feel is terrific. I notice fatigue does not set in nearly as much as when I play the Blueridge (BR-280).

It's a smaller sized guitar, and the volume is not something that will compete with a dreadnaught. Having said that, the tone is nice across the spectrum. I tend to like the deeper bass that I get from the dreadnaught, but I've really enjoyed getting to know this guitar better the past few months.

I would definitely recommend this guitar if you are searching for some particular need. If it's meant to be the main axe, my own preference is for a dreadnaught. Beyond the caveats....great stuff.

I have two. One is the '99 Bob Weir model which sounds great. I have mediums on it and it is super easy to play. The other one is an old '79 dreadnaught my wife found in a pawnshop. Alvarez guitars are great values compared to Taylors, Takamine, etc. Try to get one that is made in Japan.

I just bought one yesterday...an RD20S. I don't know anything at all about guitars though. It sounds real nice and is a big step up from my old guitar. I hear that Alvarez guitars age well.

When i used to take lssons my teacher would have me learn on acoustic at first, and since i only had an electric, he lent me his 1981 Dreadnought Alvarez for a few months. It was over 20 years old and still played well, and sounded great. They definantly age well

I have the RD20SC and I love it ...Very nice guitar for the $$$...

Great tone for sure. I replaced the nut and saddle otherwise all original

My next acoustic (I currently have a Martin D-3) will be an Alvarez. Amp'd and cutaway.

I own a RD20s and love it. It is a baseline model but I think a $300 Alvarez is better than a lot of 500-800$ Acoustics. For the money they are great guitars.

I own a WY1 which is the Weir model and love it!
Receive lots of compliments when I bring her out.

I have a WY-1 model also...sound is terrific. The one thing I do not like about it is that the fretboard is just too narrow (from Low E to High E) for me. I like a wider fretboard...Martin Guitars are known for this (at least the ones I've played).

Other than that - it's a great guitar. I'd GLADLY trade it, however, for a Martin - so if you have one, and you want a nice WY-1...lemme know!!

Indeed. I love my Martin. be sure to check those out too before you settle on the Alvarez.
