I am a new member here, and I just don't do this kind of thing much. As I get older, however, I find that I think about the GD more and more. I would estimate that I listen to the Grateful Dead about 50% of the time I am listening to music. Their music seems to become more meaningful and relevant to my life as the years wear on. I have been listening to the Grateful Dead for nearly 50 years. In the Amazon movie from a couple of years ago, one of the people interviewed said that he felt an immediate kinship with people who were also fans, and I feel the same way. I just want to start talking with like-minded people about something that is profoundly important to me.

Welcome!

This is a low traffic forum so don't expect a ton of responses to your posts, especially if they lean towards community/fellowship rather than obtaining responses to specific gear or technical questions. But there are some truly nice and knowledgeable folks here to help with those.

Well howdy Some Old Nobody, and welcome to the forum! Like Jon said, there aren’t a lot of people active here, but those that are active are mostly players, are quite knowledgeable about gear, and share a love of the Dead.

Thank you for reaching out, gents! I am not a musician, so the posts regarding playing and equipment will not be my bag. But I feel at home already and I thank you both for reaching out with kind words.

I think you mean, "I'm not a musician yet." ;-)

You are very welcome. In the same vein as Jon’s post, above, if you think listening to Dead music is fun, try playing it! There are lots of tunes that are perfect for beginners, like Fire on the Mountain and Cold Rain and Snow. You can find chords and lyrics to almost all their songs under the “Guitar Tabs” link on top of the page.

Old dog, new tricks.

But I can sing in the shower like nobody's business.
