Hey guys, I was just listening to the Dark Star from 4/24/72 (Rockin the Rhein) and in the "Dark Star II" section (~0:40 - 0:59), Jerry very clearly is using some tape delay device. This is the earliest example Ive personally heard of Jerry using a very obvious delay effect live. Are there other examples from 72? Do we know if its an echoplex?

Wow! That is super interesting! Definitely not something that makes a regular appearance in the era…makes one wonder.

It seems like an Echoplex or Binson Echorec would be the most likely candidates…if I had to guess, I might say that someone local had one he brought to the gig for Jerry to try…didn’t seem to stick at the time, but that MXR Delay sure became useful later!

Maybe the echo was added later, when they mixed down the recordings to make the CD.
