Wolf Style Prototype

My Wolf inspired prototype is starting to come to fruition. Started building this about a year or so ago. Typical OBEL electronics but body design started out as a mesh between Wolf and Tiger but got a bit elongated in the process giving a little bit of a larger bass side horn than Wolf. Excited to get it finished up shortly and put through its paces.

One could swim in that quilt!

Folks here tend to be conservative (= an understatement ;-) ) about modifying classic GD gear designs so don't necessarily expect rave reviews for your originality.

I, though, come more from the "make it your own" school of thought so I'll say, I love your design.

Please keep us apprised of your progress and share some clips of the finished guitar if you can!

Thanks Jon. I know the opinions but willing to hear them out. This is also a variation on Irwin's "wine country" where he combined aft bout of Tiger with fore section of Wolf. The Wolf theme is more the fretboard and hardware design than anything.

Love it! I would much rather see someone take the concepts and make them their own, then see yet another Wolf/Tiger/Aligator. Let's face it, what would Jerry do? Go for something unique!

That's an awesome looking guitar. The shape reminds me of a PRS rype shape and I mean that in the best way. The wood looks amazing, nice gold hardware, with some variation on the shape. What's not to love?

Love the new Wolf style build. I follow your reverb channel and have got some pickguard surrounds from you. Your K series builds are awesome and very reasonably priced. Can’t wait to see the Wolf style build finished up. Myself and a local luthier did a Garcia build a few years ago. Got the surrounds from you for a Kawai conversion.

That is beautiful- I love how you did a continuous wood cover on the electronics compartment. That’s my one (super duper minor) gripe about my wolf- it has a plain old metal plate, not wood. But I get that the builder made it to spec on how Irwin built wolf originally.

Saw someone mention your reverb shop above- can you post a link to it?

Hi, they are not for sale. I was just showing a one off guitar my buddy and I made. But I think the person who started post with their Wolf prototype may have a store.

Here’s Alembic’s take. This is my custom Further, “Woody”.

Cocobolo with continuous wood backplates. I went to the factory and picked out the 5A Quilted Maple for the front, and the back Cocobolo piece, from Alembic’s wood pile. Here‘s the Cocobolo headstock veneer. LOVE Cocobolo.
