Doubly cool as I'm a graduate of the State University of New York at Binghamton and lived down the road from the factory.

My late brother graduated from Harpur College at SUNY Binghamton. He attended the famous Spring 1970 show while there. If you haven't heard it check it out. Amongst the Dead at their best.

Sorry your bother is not with you anymore…do you recall any stories he shared about that famous night in Binghamton? Can only imagine being there!
I did walk into the building once though when in the area…it was nice to sense the energy!

Cool photo! Those were the days, tiny venues, reminds me of my first full Dead show at the University of Rochester in November 1970. That was the night that some of the Airplane joined in for a third set. I stopped in about 10 years ago to refresh my memory.
(and p.s., I'm a graduate of State University of New York at Oswego)

The 1970 SUNY at Binghamton show was before my time. I did hear, though, that due to a fire fans set on the gym floor, the Dead were thereafter banned from the school and thus all of their future Binghamton shows were at the Broome County Arena. Going to school in Binghamton did facilitate my catching their May 8, 1977 Barton Hall show at nearby Cornell U., though.

Ooohhhh! So what stories do you have of Cornell that night? How did you find the show at the time?
And presume you saw the 11-6-77 Broome County Arena show later that year?

I spoke with my brother's buddy who was also there. He knows nothing about fires and always believed the Dead moved to the County Arena due to its larger capacity.
After the show, at about 5 in the morning, my brother and his friends ran into the band at Dunkin' Donuts.

If your brother’s buddy was there in person, his recollection trumps my ‘75 hearsay!
