Duly noted on the coil placement!

The main thing I like about 22 frets is that it's all right there for you. One doesn't need to reach far for those first position chords and lower barre chords. More like a Les Paul and Strat in that regard. Just lower the bridge a bit and voila! And last time I checked, Strats can get Jerry tones even with 21 frets!

Tone wise, I love the 68 ish SG tone, Alligator, early (pre-Dimarzo) Wolf, and the TB500. When Wolf came back through the end, I think the tone trended for the worse.

I have it on a good source that the shape of the bouts was inspired by the shape of your thumb when pushing down on a lighter while smoking heroin.
WTF????

So.... your thumb makes a different shape when you're pushing down on a lighter "when smoking heroin"?

To quote Eric Burdon quoting Ellis McDaniel (Bo Diddley)- "Son, that's the biggest load of rubbish I ever heard in my life".

The shape of one’s thumb pressing down upon a lighter is the same regardless of what is being smoked. If you feel better believing Jerry was smoking Sir Walter Raleigh pipe tobacco, be my guest.

He did smoke more than a pack of cigarettes a day so if anything it may have been related to that. Does seem a bit far fetched though.

Annnnyyyway…back to guitars!

Interesting that Jerry really only used one hollowbody type guitar back in the day and then moved onto solids. Would have loved to hear him on a Casino or something like that as a guest in later years. Guessing he still would have sounded like Jerry!

I have no doubts about what Jerry was smoking, I DO have doubts about the inspiration for the bouts on the Irwin guitars. He heh- "doubts 'bout the bouts".

I have it on a good source that the US government is hiding a dozen alien spaceships.

It could also be what Irwin was smoking. I am not sure if Jerry was the inspiration for the shape or just the customer. Either way, I have never been a fan.

Tone wise, I have to go TB 500. Looks would be Wolf.
