does anyone know the specs of the rosewood base plate on alligator like width and height.
Send pictures if you can.

I don't know if you ever found your info but I found the attached picture on the internet, no idea if it's totally correct but I blew up a picture of the real Alligator on Acad and plotted it out full size, this one seems to be pretty close. As far as thickness goes, someone told me it's about 1/8" thick. That's what I'm going to start with on my build and if it doesn't work, I'll find a thicker piece of wood. I got some Bolivian Rosewood from Woodcraft for about $15 with enough wood to screw up 3 and hopefully get the 4th one right. It's nice dark, grainy wood and should look ok when done. I can't afford Brazilian Rosewood and couldn't find a good piece anyway.

I purchased an indian rosewod fingerboard from stewmac for about $20. I then just shaped and sanded it to look like the original. It's "around" 1/8" but isn't the same thickness all over.

I know this is an old thread, but not many new ones out there on Alligator builds. Question about the riser pictured above....is it beveled or a flat piece of wood? Meaning does it get lower towards the tailpiece from the bridge?
