is the Boss octave pedal similar to the octavider?

The boss doesn't really sound the same, but Jerry also used the OC-2 in the late '80s/early '90s. The current boss model is the OC-3; I'm not totally sure how that sounds vis-a-vis the OC-2.
The BYOC is indistinguishable from the Mutron according to people who have A-B'd them IRL. There was some discussion here about that when BYOC originally released the kit, and I think some clips on youtube.
