I see this builder DGN offers a single coil meant to mimic a Dimarzio humbucker split. Its unclear to me if its meant to mimic a a Dual Sound or Super II.

Anybody have experience with it?

From the description, I would say the Dual Sound (Super Distortion), which is what Jerry used at the time. I have always preferred the Super Distortion to the Super II in all of my Jerry guitars personally.

interesting, why is that? it seems like the Super II is quite a bit brighter than the Dual Sound based on the Dimarzio site

The DGN Tru JG humbucker description states that it captures the tone of the late 70’s. The single version they offer is half of that. Super II’s didn’t come about until 82’.

So I assume they are talking about the Super Distortion also.
