I just bought a dd-3 for a standard delay and it has a decent jerry sound but how is the carbon copy? I know how he used to use a 70s mxr delay.

Very nice. I haven't used a DD-3, so can't give you a head to head comparison, but the CC has a bit of the darkness I associate with a lot of Jerry delay parts, and is pretty clean for an analog unit. It's worked better for Jerry tones than 2-3 other delays I've tried.

Delay has always been a tough FX for me to use effectively but I have been experimenting w some pedals like the Boss RV3 and TC Elec Flashback recently
I sold my old DD3 years ago - wish I didnt though as it was great pedal
Right now its the Flashback on the board -Its barely on - just a little mojo
My own experience w delay is to over use it and it would sound very crappy
Good luck

I have the MXR carbon copy. I haven't used it much for Jerry stuff. It definitely colors the tone a little bit.

I like the CC better than the TC flashback for Jerry tone. That's one of the others I've tried.

Always loved the Boss DD-2. Just a better sounding pedal to my ears. Not as high a sampling rate and a bit warmer than the DD-3. The Catalinbread Belle Epoch works well for me now. That said, the DD-3 is on a million boards and is a perfectly good pedal. I have not tried a Carbon Copy as I have personally never liked analog delay.
