Grateful Dead Music Forum

Someone here recommended them a while back and I finally got to hear one and really liked it. I play anything from Dead to Allmans to Phish and on and on. I have really been considering the YCV80Q and was wondering if anyone here has any experience with one. The reviews are outstanding and it seems extremely versatile. Thoughts?

Hey, that was me that suggested them and yes, The YCVQ80 is a monster! Extremely versatile, everything sounds fantastic, built like a tank, etc etc. The only drawbacks I see with it is that it is very heavy and man is it LOUD! Although it does have a master volume.

In my humble, a much better amp and value than anything put out by Fender these days.

Hey Wised, thanks for the reply. By chance have you ever heard the YCV80Q with the speaker defeat on and the mic line output being used? I love the sound of the amp on stage, I have never heard it using that function. The reason I ask is because i do alot of recording in my house and an amp like that is going to shake my walls apart, but I thought if I used the mic line out directly to my preamp into Cakewalk Home Studio I would be able to crank the amp but control the output levels in the channel. It's a nice feature, though I want to get the amp regardless.

No, sorry, can't say that I have heard it doing that. It is a great amp, but yeah, it's a wall shaker.

Well I ordered one, factory direct. I'm psyched because i didn't want to get stuck with one manufactured in 2000-2004 or so. They sounded great but were very "glitchy", tending to need to take advantage of the awesome warranty they come with. You can literally kick in the speaker for up to 2 years and they'll replace it free of charge. Recently they have really ironed out the issues and it is as reliable as can be. The only drawback is I gotta wait for it to get here from Canada
