Most tabs/ diagrams on chord layouts and chord finders end around the 7-9 fret area on the fretboard. I'm looking for an Am chord a little higher up. Anyone? Buehller? Thanks.

correction...I meant an A minor 7.

Make a bar chord Em7th shape as if you were at the seventh fret. Move that shape up the neck so that the bar is across the 12th fret.
5th string (A)fret 12
fourth string (D) fret 14
Third string fret (G) fret 12
second string (B) fret 13
first string (E) fret 12

If you want an Am you just need to find a (A, C, E).
Here is a fun shape to play with (Am inversion):

(??) - You have some choices on the high e string. I like shapes where I can hammer on and off other notes without changing the chord. Try playing the high e string at:

0 e
8 c
12 e
mute x

You can also play the A string at 12 to keep the A as the bass note.

Am7 would be (A, C, E, G)

Make a chord like a Dm7 in the first position and slide it up until the A note is on the B string like the D note is on the B string in the first position.
