OK, here's the random opinion poll for the week.

I was listening to the Allmans "A Decade of Hits" album this weekend, and there are 2 studio jams on there that are just awesome - Blue Sky and Jessica. No matter how many times I listen to them, I'm still hanging on every note, and get a surge of energy when the song peaks. I think Blue Sky would be my favorite.

And of course this goes without saying but I love em all

The Playing In The Band from Ace has some great Dead "jam" in it. Also Slipknot!

The Stones Cant you hear me knockin" has a good jam at the end. Although it does not go on long enough there is some nice interplay at the end of Marshall Tucker's 24 Hours at a time. I would also agree with the above GD choices as both are right up there.

As far as Pink Floyd goes, DSM has some of the best jamming, I think.

What about ANY of those bluesy jams that Moby Grape brought us? Phenominal.

Terripin Station has some good jamming. Also some of the outtakes from the remastered/expanded Blues For Allah CD. I almost forgot the instermental Peggy-o from the remastered/expanded Terripin Station. Nice call on Freebird, the solo is smokin'. Too bad Skynyrd wasn't a jam band they would have been awesome.

Fretful Dave - i fully agree with you on the Key to the Highway jam from Derek & the Dominos. That was in my mind, but I didn't write it down. As you noted just about all the jams on that album are noteworthy - the closing guitar duel with Clapton and D. Allman on "Keep on Growing" is awesome.

If you are gonna mention Pink Floyd ya have to include "Shine on Crazy Diamond"

The ending of Keep on Growing is amazing but all the guitars are Clapton. D. Allman did not play on the first three songs (I looked away, Bell Bottom Blues and Keep on Growing) which were cut prior to his arrival in Fla.
Another great not mentioned yet D. Allman jam is Boz Scaggs' Loan Me a Dime.
