Anyone else follow these guys? Saw John for the first time at a Bear's picnic this summer. Really enjoyed the set...nice mix of his original music and the classics. https://archive.org/details/jkb2016-08- ... SBD.ZoomH6

I asked him about gear on his facebook page and he was nice enough to reply. He's using an emulation and a Meyer UM-1P. No complaints on the tone. Sounded beautiful live.

We saw him a week ago in Boulder. His bass player, Klyph Black is old friends with my drummer and her cousin. We had dinner with Klyph and Nathen (John's drummer) and hung out for a spell in the green room after the show. John gave me the left over chips and salsa for the ride home. Good man.

They were ON FIRE! I saw them earlier in the year and as good as they were that night they were three times better last week. Maybe being the last night of the tour they just wanted to give the last drops of blood left, but they really smoked it. Deb took some video that's up on You Tube under "Colorado Green Band" (our groovy little combo).

I never saw Further or DSO, so he's new to me. I'm glad he's playing more originals and stretching out from doing Dead material 'cause he's much, much more then a "Jerry Clone." I'll go see him any time I can.

Could you give me the details he sent of his stage gear? I didn't want to be a total guitar geek and ask him at the show.

Heard JKB in DC on a Jerry birthday thing at the Hamilton when I lived there.

pablomango, he just told me what I already posted. I was surprised how good the tone was from clean to mean. Ton of harmonics and sweet voice. Went to look up the Meyer and those things take some serious coin Cool story about the band. Thanks for sharing!

Yeah, the Meyer stuff and Alembic guitars are not cheap. I was curious as to what his signal chain was. He had two outputs from his guitar. A "Garcia loop" maybe? His pedal board isn't that fancy. I have some pictures of it from when we saw him in May. I was wondering what emulator he used.

Anyway, I'll be seeing them anytime they're in the area. He had a guy named Tom Ryan playing keys who sounded like Brent when he sang. Shocked the hell out of me when he did "Never Trust a Woman."

Tom Ryan is the keys player in Cubensis (great SoCal GD tribute band)
