Hey all,
Has anyone heard of Ekoostik Hookah? They are a great jam band based out of Ohio. I'm going to there NYE show this year, super excited.

I was just wondering if anyone else has heard of them. They play big venues in Ohio, have a huge fanbase in the Midwest, and even played with Bob Weir & Ratdog, but it seems like no one has ever heard of them.

hell ya man ive been seein them since i was 13. ive seen more hookah shows than any other band. hookahville's a great festival.

I saw them in September 1991 at the campground/waterpark place near Richfield Coliseum. Good fun, college-y sounding jam band, but nothing I would have expected to be touring nationally just a few years later. Left me with a vaguely WSP-ish vibe... HUGE fun at those Richfield shows.

Anyone familiar with the waterpark campground? I wanna say it was called ... Dover Lake? Could be way off... I think I might have also stayed there after Phish Blossom Center show of 1995, but the Dead scene there in 1991 was EPIC.

The first night there was the most amazing huge drum circle that I have ever taken part in, and I have been to two national Rainbow Gatherings! I think Hookah played on an afternoon, before folks left for the lot

I've heard of Ekoostik Hookah but I've never heard them play. Are they a cover band or do they play originals? How 'bout Grateful Dead do they play Dead?

I heard that they played Cold Rain and Snow at their halloween festival but I think they play mainly originals. Their bass player and lead guitar player used to be in a GD cover band called Supplication but I dont think their stuff is on the LMA. Three words, SFS

I really really enjoy Ekoostik Hookah. They are an excellent band with an excellent family. I have met many great friends and my beautiful wife from following this band. They have numerous originals and throw in a nice cover now and then. As far as covering some DEAD...here is a cover they did at their memorial day weekend Hookahville festival.

Now please don't compare them to the Dead because NOTHING is comparable to the Dead.

Like Derek, I'm a huge EH fan as well, living in Ohio makes it nice cause they are Ohio Grown and play around here alot. I would recommend everyone to see a show sometime or another to see what they think. I believe Sweney, the guitar player, is one of the best out there playing. schwahelee, do you remember oroboros? Jim Miller's old band? I still have a double disc of theirs after all these years, it must be 15 years old. its alright i guess.
