I bought an Alembic Further. A true masterpiece..... but the sound is crackly and harsh.. Any one else notice this??? Plays and looks amazing , sounds awful!

I recall hearing them referred to as fairly sterile sounding but no personal experience. Try searching on it in the forums I know someone else has commented on that.

Ive got one. Same thoughts. I have actually been in touch with Alembic asking about John K's Orion. They say it has the exact same electronics as the further. I've never been able to get the thing to sound right, but the build quality and playability are second to none. I will probably end up gutting the electronics and re-wiring to a more Jerry-like place.
