Wiring single coils in series

I searched around but didn't come across this topic. Does anyone have a pearl of wisdom or two regarding wiring single coil pickups in series? I like my single coil DA Voodoo 69s, but would love to expand my tonal options and have a humbucker-ish tone for non-Jerry stuff. I'm interested in the wiring mod that incorporates 1 DPDT on/on switch that gives you Neck -Middle series in position 4 and Middle-Bridge series in position 2. The only decent wiring diagram I came across so far is an article from Dirk Wacker in Premier Guitar:

http://www.premierguitar.com/articles/A ... Your_Strat

He recommends individual tone caps for the middle and neck and lowering the standard values to 0.015 uF and 0.01 uF respectively to prevent the tone from getting muddy in series mode. My strat is currently conventionally wired with a single 0.022 uF tone cap. Will changing the tone cap values as he recommends negatively affect my jerry tone in the 1-3-5 positions?

I changed out the pickguard on my strat so I decided to try the single coil in series mod. The link to the one I used is below. It's a simple mod requiring a dpdt switch that gives you three series configurations in addition to the normal tones on the 5 way. I attached an AB sound clip of single middle vs neck middle in series. It sounds similar to position 4 in parallel, but much beefier.
