Today, 5/22 was the first day that they put a cool new documentary on to Netflix. It's called- The Other One: The Long Strange Trip Of Bob Weir. I only get the streaming part of netflix. There wasn't much as far as new video footage. Maybe a few seconds of back stage stuff. But still, well worth a watch. Very cool!

been waiting months for this

40 mins in so far so good. I have been waiting for this for a while too. Thanks for reminding me it came out today !!! Cool to see Weir Playing the Cowboy Fancy in his home studio. Have a Good Long weekend. Watching this with a few wahbahlee Pops and some Mother Nature has been a great start to mine.

Just finished watching it. A really incredible and unique insight into the grateful dead experience. I've always had tremendous respect and admiration for Bobby.

When I lived in Lawrence Kansas... a friend, one of my longest time friends... a bud I played in bands with through junior high and high school who later played with the Schwag... he and I dropped by a house. It was the home of Bobby's first wife Frankie. I didn't really know who she was at the time. She told great stories about the Europe '72 tour. While we were there she jumped into the shower and we hung out. The phone rang, and she yelled from the shower asking if someone could answer it. I did, and the voice on the other end asked for her. I said she was in the shower and could I take a message. The voice said sure... tell her "Bobby called". I was a bit stunned and said sure, I'll pass it along. It was many minutes later that I realized what had just happened and who I'd talked to.

A couple of weeks later Frankie decided to take off on a cruise and decided to unload some stuff. I remember buying a Sony Trinatron TV from her. She told me that she and Bobby bought it... when it was state of the art. Frankie headed off for the cruise, and it was the last time I saw her. She never came back to Lawrence. I held on to that TV, odd as it may seem, well past the time it no longer worked.

An inconsequential intersection of influence... but I feel lucky to have had that brief and un baggaged interaction with both of them.

Watched it.

Deep.

Meaningful.

Tears were shed.

definitely a cool Documentary into Weir's life. It's about time we're able to view this! I agree, love when he's strumming his Ibanez and when Hagar is talking about Bob's ability to voice so many inverted E chords.

I met Natasha backstage at a summer show here in New Hampshire. When she got off the bus she was like a breath of fresh air. So, pleasant. Smiling and saying hello with such a passionate voice. The sun was shining and she was soaking it in. You could tell everyone loves her. Always smiling. Even at dinner with Hornsby she was a delight. Weir definitely waited for a good one.

Yah, I've read that. But that's not how Frankie introduced herself... So I used her version.

She called herself Frankie Hart because she was Mickey's girlfriend first. Lol

I had the privilege of seeing this when it premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival last year. Weir and Kimock came out afterwards and did a rather incredible set. Weir on acoustic and Kimock on some tasty electric. He opened with Hell in a Bucket which was not lost on anybody..."At least I'm enjoying the ride".

I saw it and had been really looking forward to it. First off great story and point being made about how important Weir is to the whole Dead sound, not to mention the special position to be in where one joins this amazing band, helps formulate the sound and presentation of the band and lives through summer of love, Woodstock, Europe '72, Egypt, the 80's Dead, the 90's decline, Jer's passing, continued music making through to present day. I mean the social, musical, cultural changes that this guy has lived through while being right in the middle of it is astounding. Loved some of the imagery-Weir up at his Mill Valley pad, walking around with his dogs, playing cowboy, the Dead through the years, arriving at a show and watching the crowd from the bus. I really liked the scuba shots with Garcia-I had only seen pictures of these trips before and it was so great to see Jerry playing with the eel. Definitely worth a look!

I knew a guy who dated Frankie for awhile. We used to joke about him getting ditched at shows..

I thought this was really well done and was cool to see/hear things from his perspective. Definitely worth the watch.
