pre amp twin

what happens if you do not use the switch craft 13 jack when making the Fender pre amp mod. Also if I want to only use the vibrato tap, I only need that tap and the power shunt connection correct? also what shielded cable do you use? Can I use 14 ga single conductor Mogami instrument cable?
