Yeah, looks like a sweet deal to me... just as long as the neck is good, the rest is ripe for mods

That's really blue! That would be a great candidate. It likely has a 25.5" scale. Some of the Matsumoku factory guitars came stock with what I believe are Dimarzio pickups due to the hex screws and the sound. The stock pickups in one Matsumoku factory guitar I bought sounded like Super Distortions (unless they were doing really good knockoffs). It sounded great. I also have a Jerrified Aria Pro II YS500 which comes from the same bloodline as the Skylark and I really like it.

Sweet guitar. Pretty basic compared to some of the Akembic inspired guitars they made in 1980/81 but it's got the goods. It must have a battery compartment. It's got all the right toggles. Just put in a Wald buffer and you are probably good to go.

Nice headstock as well. If you could score this for less than 600 all in it would be a great deal.

The neck on my Aria Pro II is one of the best necks I've played. It's a higher end model for sure but this guitar probably has a great neck to. You take your chances on eBay without having the opportunity to play it and it's not a known brand like Ibanez so it's never going to be a collector's item.

And yes it's pretty blue. You either love em or hate em with those colourful finishes.

Peace,

James

At $113.00 I'd buy it in a minute. I'm always looking at Matsumokus on eBay. That one looks very nice. I think the blue is kinda cool but at that price buy it and do some refinish work on it. I'd be interested in seeing what it ends up going for.

Damn man I promise I won't bid but if I caught that myself I'd be all over it. There was another one I saw related to that (I think same Japanese builder) that kind of went the Jerry Tiger horns route but I can't find it anymore.

To be honest, I'm watching this too, so nobody is going to be getting a steal unfortunately.

I think a bidding war on this would be unethical. Poor, Poor Peter!

Luckily the Matsumoku neckthrough guitars are pretty common on ebay so there will be more. If you dig around on this website http://www.matsumoku.org/guitars.html you can find the names of many of the neckthrough models that Matsumoku made. Vantage is another name that some of these are labeled. You can get some great deals on these. The Aria Pro II I pictured here was a steal at $315 on ebay. Here's a photo of it after I did the mods.

+1 Let him get the guitar for cheap... he found it and simply asked for advice.
