Article at page 130: "How to Install an Onboard Buffer System in a Strat." Though the builder went with a Creation Audio Labs Redeemer unit, calling it popular with Nashville studio and touring guitarists, he wrote, "Several companies - including CAE Sound, Bartolini, and Wald Electronics - make onboard buffer kits."

I just checked the Creation Audio Labs web site for the first time. Interesting - they offer a "beltpack" buffer unit (1st time I've seen one).

Likely the author simply Googled "onboard buffer". If he or she had possessed first-hand knowledge I would have expected a mention of the provenance of its design.
