Gotta love Howe and the bass player. Amazing what those guys wrote at I assume a young age, for some reason epic stuff like that seem to originate in Europe. Probably related the the classical traditions there which are (or were) part of the culture like R&B was in 50's America.

I was into Yes before the Dead. Close to the Edge is one of the best albums ever recorded. I also heard an interview once with Chris Squire where he said they threw together Roundabout, Heart of the Sunrise, and South Side of the Sky in one afternoon. that ain't a bunch of 3 chord blues tunes.
Ditto. I used to paint Roger Dean's album covers on jean jackets for myself and friends. I have Jon Anderson, Chris Squire, Bill Bruford, Alan White and Steve Howe's autographs on one with the scene from Yessongs on the back - lacking just Rick Wakeman (well, in my book anyways).
Met Steve twice, albeit very briefly. Very nice, polite and somewhat witty.

I was a hardcore Yes fan before I got into the Dead. Saw them several times in the late 70's.
I just cannot get past this issue that's going on with them using a tribute band singer while Jon Anderson sits at home. Hopefully, they'll get inducted into that silly HOF next year which will bring them together (for at least that) and they can work out their issues.

I hear you, Jon belongs in that band he just doesn't seem to be the road warriors that the rest of the band is. I didn't realize that it wasn't Anderson who had decided not to continue. I saw the Drama tour (underrated album) and the first Trevor Rabin tour. I've seen them a few times in the last 20 years. The Union tour with Bill Bruford was awesome.
This is a pretty funny union of two of my favorite bands:

I think there's more to the story. In 2009, Yes was supposed to tour with JA and he got sick. Apparently, this was like a last straw for the band, they had been wanting to tour and JA had been maybe not as much for it. SO at that point without telling JA, they went and recruited Benoit David from a tribute band. That was the main rift. They did speak afterwards and Jon said he understood the decision, but at this time and place....I believe if you were to ask JA, he would tell you he is healthy and ready to go, and the rest of the band has just said no thanks. To which I say the same to them. I saw them once without him, that will be the only time.
You can find a guy who sings like Jon Anderson......doesn't make him Jon Anderson.......we know this all too well....plenty of guys have done a heck of a job copying Jerry's sound.......but if Jerry were here and ready, willing, and able to play, would you go see "The Dead",Further, The Other Ones, whatever, with JK?

Whats with all the bracelets on JA in the vid? Going for that mid-80's Madonna look or what?
Maybe each one symbolizes something.
