Nuages

I was recording some background music for a goofy video project at work and while the playing is sloppy, it came out ok. I love the tone of the guitar and I've always thought one of these Macaferri-type guitars would've been perfect for Jerry. It has that kind of plunky articulate tone that his electric playing has and lends itself well to melodic players. This is also one of my all time favorite Django tunes, beautiful melody and cool chord progression.

Django w/ Jerry influence!

Django was THE man. An incredible player, and, he had less fingers than Jerry!

Thanks for the video.

I think Dj played a little plastic bodies guitar. One that came with a tag that said, "keep in top shape with a damp rag" LOL

Thanks guys!! I love those tunes. I got turned on to Django exploring Jerry's influences back in the mid 80s and I read somewhere that Django was a guitarist he admired. I was being the youthful experimenter I was over at a friends house and he had a Django tape on his stereo in the other room just loud enough to hear but not to make out exactly what it was. It kinda sounded like Jerry's playing coming through the walls. I drifted into the other room and heard what it was and was hooked. That guitar is really sweet for acoustic Dead stuff too. It's got nice edge and is throaty as hell - plus the thing is an absolute cannon. I use it playing bluegrass too and it can hold its own with the banjo.

You gotta really muscle the thing - the 26.5" neck scale really makes to work the strings.

I love that song! I haven't done any gypsy jazz gigs in a while, I'm kind of a jazz hack but it's a lot of fun. I've been working on recording a cool Walter Hiatt tune with my girlfriend that's got a cool swing to it.
