Can't drive my nautilus?

I built a madbean nautilus and it sounds great! The only big problem is that I cannot use Any of my overdrive pedals after it without it sounding crappy. How did Jerry get that nice overdriven tone with his mutron?

You might want to think about giving an example of the exact tone you're referring to. A song from a particular show for example.

It was in 77. So it must have been the dist +.

the m3 has a certain clipping sound to it as well if i recall correctly from other chats.
