Hey all,
I love watching/listening to music on dvd and have much of the Dead DVD's available. I have some Rolling Stones (4 flicks), Lou Reed (Velvet and solo), Clapton's crossroads fest, Zeppelin (2dvd set), Jim Croce and Old Grey Whistle Test. I also just got the Pixies acoustic at Newport Folk Fest, an XTC show from the early 80's and 6 Hendrix ones including Woodstock, Dick Cavett and the Wild Blue Angel. So, what are some of your favorites, other than the Dead and why?

Ween Live In Chicago - outstanding!

WIlco - I am Trying To Break Your HEart - great documentary!

The Band - The Last Waltz - I am sure you have seen this already but... Scorcese did it, it is not only one of the greatest music movies, it is one of the greatest movies of all time period. And Damn can those boys sing, every last one of them!

I bought that Zepp 2 DVD set and a lot of the editing in that pissed me off. I also own Clapton Crossroads and the Cream reunion DVD as well as every GD DVD released (my favorites being GD Movie, Downhill from Here, Buffallo and View #4)

I just rented Dont Look Back recently and I thought it was great...i loved watching dylan just mess around with the press all the time. He just didn't give a damn. I read in his biography...or a biography about him that a lot of the things that happened in the movie were staged.

I've also got my friends copy of The Closing of Winterland which I've seen a few times. Very good concert dvd.


I forgot to add something I saw recently
Ridin' The Rails by Johnny Cash...It's really a documentary about the railroads and trains but he plays some great songs here and there. Plus it's pretty interesting if your into history. He recreates big moments in the railroad like the meeting of the two ends of the pacific to eastcoast railroad and things like that.

I've got the Talking Heads "Stop Making Sense" in my collection, schoolhouse rocks too. I actually got to see that particular tour with the talking heads. My brother took me, I bought a ticket at the gate, got a single seat 4th row. I loved it, and, the album/DVD is just great. I always have to have a tune or two on my ipod.

The Allman Brothers Beacon Theater DVD is awewsome! Killer music and cool extra disk with sweet interviews. Would highly recommend it.Also Warren pays the Dead a very high compliment during the interview.

Thanks for the great suggestions! I did pick up Cream's reunion dvd and The Who doing Tommy and Quadrophenia and assorted hits. A must for anyone into the who!! I have seen Festival Express, the Wilco and owned The Last Waltz and Stop Making Sense and Don't look back on video, along with the original woodstock but am not sure if I should pick them up on dvd. I'll look for the Ween and the Allman's as I've always wanted one of them. Any others??

If you like The Who you must buy the Isle of Wight dvd, The Kids are Alright, and the Rolling Stones R & R Circus. They are the sole reason Mick Jagger never wanted this released. The Who blew everybody off the stage. Other good ones:

One of my favorite non-Dead is Tina Turner at Wembley Stadium on her 24/7 tour. Incredible show, and the drummer is really good.

My favourite Deads are:
Closing of Winterland, Dead Ahead and the Doco Anthem to Beauty. There are quite a few that I haven't seen though.

There is also a terrific blues series filmed in Europe (I think for German or Scandanavian television) in the the early sixties. It's all in black and white but the sound quality is terrific.

I think 'live from austin' is the stevie ray that I have. I also have a SRV from Germany i think. Good stuff.
I have some other mostly old blues guitarist stuff I cannot remember exactly some old recording not great quailty but fun.
