Noisy Adamas?

Hey all,

Was playing an ungrounded 1971 Deluxe Reverb last night and got a couple small shocks. Lips to mic and hand on aluminum fishing boat.
Anyways gonna change the plug soon.
Noticed that just touching my adamas pick to the strings made a scratchy noise thru the amp. Switched to a 2mm nylon and silence.
Is there a metallic content to graphite? Don't think so.
They were new strings...
Any thoughts?

See if it collected a bit of static charge. Try wiping with a dryer sheet.

Those Adamas picks are noisy.
Whatever that material is...another member said it's the same material as Ovation guitar backs...is very sensitive to a static charge.

The dryer sheet may work. I've never tried it.

What definately works is shielding your guitar. I do 2-3 coats of the paint on stuff & then cover it with the copper foil (w/conductive adhesive).

That cleans it up.
Peace

Weird cuz ive been playing with adamas picks for the past year on the same guitar but through a newer tweaker 40 head and total silence.
Thinkin the old amp has to also be contributing to this phenomena.
Ill give the "cling-free" a shot.

Thanks All

I keep mine in a small Altoids tin with a scrap of dryer sheet.

Dryer sheet no good for me. single coils (in my case Tele, and an LP with P90s) = static, HBs no.

I been liking Gravitys lately. 2mm classic big mini.
