I just heard he died following some routine surgery in Spain. He was one of my favorite players when I was in high school. Saw him open for Black Sabbath in the early 80s. He could really rip it up . .

Ten Years After was the first concert I ever saw at Madison Square Garden.

I was fourteen or fifteen, about 40 years ago.

It was a great concert, as I recall. Of course, I saw a few "other" great concerts there over the years!

RIP Alvin Lee. Watch the Woodstock movie if you have not done that yet.

That YouTube video I posted is from the movie. I got the Woodstock record at our local head shop in VA when I was a freshman in high school this track blew me away. I went and picked up a bunch of other stuff of his soon after. Saw him open for Sabbath in '81 or '82. He made me want an ES335.
