Hello All...

I play through a 1985 CRATE G60 solid state amp with specs as follows...
Output Power Rating: 60 watts RMS @ 5% THD, 4ohm load - 120 VAC line
Speaker Size & Rating: Custom Design 12" with 1.5" voice coil Power Handling 60 watts RMS.

Was wondering if switching the speaker to a E120 would work and if it was a worth while baby step until more funds are available for something far grander.

Thorougly enjoy this board BTW....y'all seem like a good bunch...

I think the E120 speaker is 8 ohms so it might not work

The E120 came in 4, 8, and 16 ohm ratings. In any case, a SS amp rated at 4ohm minimum should be able to handle an 8 ohm load no problem. You will get a little less volume and the amp will stay a little cooler. Just don't go the other way and put a 2 ohm load on there- that could blow traces off the PCB...
