Ssia comes a time...what u think is goin on in jers rog during the solo?

Likely the TB500 #12 > Twin's > Mc2300 > K120's. The final solo has false-harmonics that were truly cosmic in that era...maybe because of the aluminum in the Beans. Yet to own one (yet) to confirm.

Truly a beautiful version of CAT....maybe the best ever.

pretty sure the harmonics are pure pick tech

It does sound like some modulation going on in those solos, especially the first one. Can't quite place it though...

I find I can get those kind of harmonics by using the "round" side of the pick instead of the pointy side. Also pick closer to the neck.

I do them with the pick and the edge of my thumb/nail ... striking the string in 2 spots at the same time

I'm not sure which show is Dick's Picks 10 but he seemed to do the pinch harmonics a lot on Loser. The one I'm most familiar with is 9-21-1982 (Madison Sq. Gardens).

Loser solo's are where he typically uses false/pinch harmonics. I use my thumbnail as well, and need to keep it long in order to keep it working. There are some screaming examples all throughout that Spring '77 run.

I just Guggled it. Always thought they were called "False" harmonics, but it seems that both terms are used. Some UTube vids out there that I'll have to check out.

ya its a great technique but the way jer hit almost every single note with clarity is unreal, I have a real hard time doing that. A bit of overdrive/distortion does help im sure
