Anybody have any success getting close to Jerry's tone's utilizing P90's? If so, was it middle position? What manufacturer?

Well... hooked up with Tom Short and looks like he's going to build me a trio of matches P90's to give this a try. No one else has been successful?

I've got P-94s (HB sized P90s) in a maple & cocobolo carved p tele that I gigged with for a few years. It was a screamer, I loved the tone but they're not as clean as Strat type single coils. If you're looking for a more modern Jerry tone, they might not give you the strong, clean tone you're looking for. It will give you a kick ass tone though.
*edit*
These are Gibson brand.

P90s to me are Mississippi Queen, not Mississippi Half Step, but if they work for you, go for it!

Yeah but he all but did away with entirely his warm pups after 1970. p90s would be great for a '68 sound. And an fn p90 would be great for destroying the infidels. If there are any infidels you've been wanting to do away with.

Infidels have all been wasted! Time to spread the love.
