I played a big festival gig yesterday and I used my fender tuner which has always been fine. However I discovered that I cant see the damn thing in bright sunlight. It was totally useless. I couldn't even shade it enough to see the lights and the note name. My bass player had a boss chromatic tuner and had the same problem.

So here is what I want, let me know what you guys use in the bright light.

It should be
True Bypass
Light enough to see outside in the sun in mid day
It needs to be silent while tuning
Stomp Box Style
Sturdy enough to gig with

Korg pitch black

I looked at that but i didnt see that it was silent. On the fender there are 2 out puts, if you put it in one you can hear if you put it in out put 2 you it shuts off the volume. Does the korg mute the volume?

It is only silent. (which is fine for me)

Boss TU-2. I've never had a problem seeing it in moderate daylight.

Yup silent. Don't know if you can have it not be?! It worked as I expected it to out of the box (silent tuning, 440, and easy view) so never thought twice to look at options!!

Polytune or the polytune mini... Silent tuning ...bright display..

You should check out peterson strobe tuners. Either a foot pedal version or even better one you can set on top of your rig. Bright display with good contrast, nice bypass, strobe accuracy which is key - and really good tracking where it knows what note you are playing and displays it. Maybe catch a deal on one on Craig's list or eBay.
