I was curious about why most of the threads
On this site revolve mostly around Jerry, Phil
and Bobby? This is a question born out of
curiosity due to my lack of time at this site.
The Good Ole' Grateful Dead as we know and Love
are a collective of many, right?

This is an observation only, not to be taken as criticism. I wonder if drums, keys & Donna
are subjects of limited interests just by natural selection. Drummers in general take a backseat, 4 out of 6 keyboardists dead and....Donna. Maybe it's as simple as limited space on any given stage, with no room for elephants(musically speaking of course).

Could come down to the fact that this site is used by a lot of musicians.
Guitar being one of the most common instruments.

Or maybe we guitarists are more sociable and chatty?

The importance of Billy is not to be overlooked. He could swing and did. His cymbal work was a driving force. Mickey turned cowbell into a valid musical statement. The new guy in Furthur is monstrously good in the modern sense, but he doesn't fit the tunes.

Keith's piano helped make Europe72 the classic of all classics.

Brent's B3 and voice propelled the band during some its most driven years.

Even Jerry wasn't Jerry over the years. Listening to Bobby, when Healy hadn't buried him in the mix, learn slide onstage was memorable. Pig was delightful whether or not he was singing flat.

Phil seemed to be the most consistent. I loved watching bombs on his oscilloscope .

Harry Popick? Let's no forget his contributions.

My theory: this is a forum tied to chords pages and guitar tab, so this forum will have a strong majority of guitarists, and a small subset of bassist, with a pack of keyboardists. Donnas can get what they need from the lyrics so no need to come in here, and there is nothing for drummers. Phil never did the same thing twice so most bassists are okay with the basics from the chord pages and most keyboardists too. So that leaves Jerry and Bobby.

It's a self-perpetuating thing, I think. There's only one keyboardist that I know of who comes here and no drummers, so if a keyboardist or drummer does happen to stop by, there's not much here for them.
