I think he borrowed that jazz master from Elvis Costello who was also playing that night. Some article I read Jerry commented how the strings were like threads of silk they were so light.

that is a roland jc 120. great for jerry tone. especially the chorus, simply amazing shimmering chorus. as for the rest of the amp, it is sterile and clean like no other. i am a fender tube amp guy, but i am not afraid of solid state if it sounds like this. as most of you know, it is probably one of the most popular studio amps of all time, along with the fender deluxe reverb amongst a couple others. i have also noticed a significant number of pros using these on the road due to the bomber nature and indestructability of them, and how they take effects well. metallica, john scofield, tons of reggae artists, just to name a couple. i prefer the smaller versions of the amp, though. the jc 90, jc 77, and jc 50 are much lighter, and easier to haul. my jc 120 weighed 62 pounds and was a beast. on a sad note, no one likes the distortion on these amps, so you need a good distortion pedal if you want to use one. jc 120s can be had for 500 on ebay all day, with other smaller jc's are even cheaper.

JC120 is a kick ass amp and the old ones had JBLS in em to boot. I used one for Weir stuff for Years.
