I know that the Thomastiks and Pyramids are the string of choice for a Starfire, but are there any other options I might check out? Perhaps something a little bit grindier.

TIA
Edwin

Hey Edwin, Ive been using DR Jonas Hellborg sig set on all my starfire's for about 5 years now, check them out you won't be dissappointed. I tried pyramids and thomastik but the feel was wrong tension wise. Great pick or finger strings and dont let the single wrap scare you they dont chew up your fingers or bass. I also think they last forever. As in Years, still great tone. And i'm not being cheap, they just don't sound dead yet. My 65 loves these strings but shes just a single neck pick up, no series1 electronics...Try those on your Alembic too, id love to put them on my distillate but they only make 4 string sets. Bear

Sorry I'm no help... I've used exactly two sets on mine, TI flats and Pyramids.

I forget what my next set-in-waiting is.... D'Addario flats of some sort, I think.
