Since there would be endless debate over this issue, I'll just go with my five current favorite albums, that I think are different than others because they're so amazing.

1. Europe 72--Grateful dead
2. Shake Sugaree--Elizabeth Cotton
3. Blonde on Blonde--Bob Dylan
4. My favorite things--John Coltrane
5. Abbey Road--Beatles.

IMO, currently, the best albums I've heard...yet.

Just a note, If you haven't heard Waylon Live, you are missing out. The original release was cut short, for it was produced in an era where live country albums were not common. Waylon had to choose the tunes to fit on one Vinyl Lp. Later they released his true vision of what he originally wanted the album to be called "Waylon Live" again on CD a few years ago. Now you can get the 2 CD expanded edition with 48 or so live tracks. Even if you are not a big country fan, this album is so good, it proably won't matter. The energy and feel of the beginning "outlaw" movement in country music was showcased in its finest on this album. Waylons telecaster picken along with Ralph Mooneys steel guitar in this point in time is great music at its finest. I've listened to these CD's many, many times. Check it out if you so desire.

I also have to agree with Phreaker, I might say Animals is the best pink Floyd Album. I love that album, its my first choice when I reach for some Pink Floyd.

Babylon by bus is Bob Marley.

One more for the road I believe is Toots Thielemans.

Wheels of fire is Cream.

Thanks, I was thinking Blood on the Tracks was Dylan, I have only one live CD of his and a couple albums on Vinyl. but not that one.

Its funny, I thought when you said that Big Pink is the band, you were saying the name of the band is "Big Pink" not the name of the album by The Band.

I only have The Bands best of CD. I have seen The Last Waltz, like many of you, and it blew me away. I've been meaning to pick up more of their stuff, It just seems when I have money for a couple new CDs, I just buy something else. I would love to own all the albums we are talking about in this forum.
