Hey, Does anyone use this pair? I was wondering if the Velocity 100 would be loud enough for small gigs? Thanks Paul

If it were me, I'd spend the extra hundred bucks and get a V300. 40 watts @ 8 ohms might well be enough for most small gigs, but I like having a lot of clean headroom... An artifact from my bass-playing days, I guess. I use a V300 and on one 75w channel with the volume at about 4 it's good and loud, 6 is deafening. If you're playing with a 1x12 combo, maybe enough power, depending on what speaker you're using. 2x12 probably not, though.
Also, having taken a quick look at the specs on the V100... Can you tell if it has a bridged mode? If you could bridge it, 80 watts @ 8 ohms seems like plenty.

I also run my SMS Classic Preamp into an RV 300 but in my case, I drive each of the 8 ohm speakers in my SSP Jerry 2X12 independently through each side of the power amp. The top unit is a Furman P1800 voltage regulator.

I'm currently running an SMS with a V-100 with a single 12" speaker. Just one channel on the amp pushes it fine for me at small-medium clubs. But, I also generally mic the amp for the mains and throw some in the monitor mix. I've yet to turn the gain on the preamp above 8 o'clock or so.
