well this may be a dumb question but I thought I would ask anyways....
I bought a new crown xls1000 power amp. Im using the SMS into a HT Cab with E120s. It has a LED sisplay for ohm settings. The question is what setting would be the best for this cabinet? I have the speakers wired in parallel. Thanks

Depends on what ohm rating the speakers are (8 or 16 ohms)...

Combining 2 speakers in parallel would half the rating of a single speaker.

Hey Jim thanks for the reply. My Es are 8ohms. So that makes a 4 ohm load? and the amp should put out 4 ohm load to the cab?

WOW!!! I got that amp up and running and let me tell you...it is great! Nice even lows and not to trebley. Very Loud and silent. Also it only weighs like 9 pounds so my small rack is now lighter. Blows away the XLS 402 that I was using. Im happy!

thats good to hear !! got mine 2 weeks ago and it's still sitting in my rack with no speakers ( only a few more days) so I've been dying to fire it up. I'm glad you're diggin the amp. I was wondering if it was gonna be too sterile ....While waiting for the mother shipment to arrive , i've poached every site possible to make sure it's hooked up correctly. 2 - 8 ohm speakers in parallel is in fact what is considered a "4 ohm cab" or put another way , your amp is driving a 4 ohm load. Though the xls can also handle an 8ohm load just fine.
did you use the speakon to 1/4 inch ? ive also read that the channel one input can be used to control both channel one and channel 2 out "
Output Connectors: Two 4-Pole SpeakonĀ® Output Connectors
accept 2-pole or 4-pole SpeakonĀ® connectors. The top Speakon connector is wired for both channels so it can be used for bridgemono wiring or for stereo wiring of two speakers to a single Speakon connector"

Ive also read that it has a higher damping factor at ohms vs the QSC GX3..i dont know too much about what that means , but i'm pretty sure more is better......

Anymore thought's on ur new amp ??? How it stacks up vs others???

I use Speakon to 1/4 inch outs and 1/4 inch ins. The amp is great. Like I said I used the Crown XLS 402 for about 2 years before that it was a Crest 602 and before that it was a Mackie. I have a MC2300 on the way so not sure how it will stack up against that ( I have played with one once but never owned one ) I will let you know how it goes, glad you got one too. You just cant believe the weight difference.
