I g=have a Deluxe reverb reissue that I use for some smaller gigs. It is a good amp. Anyway, just recently it failed on me at a gig. It just cut all the way out and its like there is no power or something. You can hear just a tiny bit of sound and it is all distorted and smushed.

What is really interesting is that the jewel light that indicates power is on will dim and brighten on its own. It will go from full brightness to half brightness to no brightness and back and every where in between while it is just sitting there (Meaning I dont have to be playing for it to dim and brighten) also it seems that if I let it cool down and start it back up I get full power from it again for a period of time (but it does not feel quite right). Once it has been heated up for a while it dies again,


Any ideas from the symptoms I described?

power transformer seems like the obvious answer.

had a similar issue on my amp a couple of months back - no sound but light still on.

turned out that the fuse and the power tubes had blown. PT was fine.
