Just bought a mint 85 am205. Ordered on a whim because I know these are hard to find and I am getting tired of the single coil strat sound. Does anyone have any input?

GREAT guitar, however, not necessarily for JG or BW.
I used to own the AM255 - same guitar w/ trem.
Congrats!

Thanks! Looking for a good americana/indie and solid jam sound overall and heard these we killer.
How was the neck on the 255?

I haven't met a vintage Ibanez neck I haven't liked, although, they do vary. I can't remember specifics as I've played so many vintage Ibby's. My latest fav is my JP20 (Joe Pass hollowbody). Neck is so wonderful and it's a very easy playing guitar.

The AM205 is a little 'darker' sounding than the AM50 which is brighter. True jazz players prefer that darker sound. I really liked that the bridge pickup sounded great - not too brittle , bright or harsh sounding. Very usable by itself.
