Dude, Locke is DEAD. Dead, dead, dead. It's just smokie's disguise.

You really don't think zombies are thwarted from eating your brains by you giving them candy on Halloween do you?

don't talk to me about zombie's I am from pittsburgh, and this is where George Romero lived.

I have an unhealthy obsession with zombie's. could be because the mall I went to growing up was where they filmed the original dawn of the dead. I also know a few people who were extras in the movie.

Also according to pride, prejudice and zombies, they do get confused over cauliflower sometimes thinking it is brains.

I still just think it isn't as simple as the new locke is smokie. i think there is something more.

So Jacob touched the 6 'candidates' - does this mean they will live forever ?
Like Richard ?
:?:

It could be but I don't think so. Jacob touched Locke when he got pushed out the window...but we all know how that turned out (i.e. Ben killed him)! I think the 'gift' Jacob gives can be many things....but we are left to assume for those with numbers beside their names....the "gift" is to be a candidate.

After watching that episode all I could think of was the difference between free will and destiny. It seems like Jacob has an "end game" and is aware of how it will be played out in broad strokes (i.e. destiny) - but he can't control the finer details (i.e. free will). I thought of this because of what Miles said to Ben - Jacob didn't believe you would kill him right up until the moment the knife went through his heart. If there was no free will I think Jacob would have known this was going to happen and therefore wouldn't have been "surprised" when Ben killed him.

Destiny has still got to be part of it though! Jacob is maneuvering his pawns around...while being dead no less! (i.e. clearing Jack and Hugo our of the temple so they don't get whacked) - and the fuse on the dynamite 'magically' goes out so Jack doesn't blow up. This allows the "end game" to unfold as it is destined to.

Anyway - great episode!

Jacob's touch was a gift to Richard so he never ages nor can he kill himself.

It also seems to make one impervious to dying in certain circumstances:
- dynamite wouldn't kill Richard & doc
- gun wouldn't kill Michael on the boat
- smokey seemed to "pass over" those touched by Jacob but kill others

So Dogen couldnt kill Sayid directly than ?
But he did die by drowning ?
But came back ?
Anyone else think watching the whole years episode's just by the little recaps segments before each episode would be funny ?
" He must take this Pill ! "
" What is it ? "
"Poison !"
the recaps just cuts to the real important stuff .....
:D

As far as we know Dogen wasn't a candidate. But Sayid is/was.

I have been watching the 8PM previous episodes just to get my shit together for the new ones at 9. I think the show has warped my ability to comprehend it. This flash sideways thing is the culprit.

My thoughts.

Kate is smokin' hot.
Same for Claire, even all disheveled and evil.
Sayid is a bad ass and redeemed getting his ass whooped by Dogen by drowning him.
I miss Juliet's boobs, I do, hey I am a boob man.
I would have been upset if Ben got whacked last week.

That's all for now.

Is Ben a candidate ?
He said he never met Jacob though ....
Is he redeeming himself ?

The name Linus was scratched.

Lots of folks met Jacob but never knew who they were meeting :)

Smoke monster/Dead Locke/Black Shirt Guy on Beach with Jacob. Are we led to believe he is evil incarnate? If so, is it possible that Jacob is the evil one and smokey is the good one? It is clear though that Claire, new evil Sayid, all have "the darkness" and seem to have no issues killing people, which I guess would make them evil perhaps. I dunno, I think my brain is scrambled.

Is it even a battle between good and evil per se? Or is it about which side has the best interest of the island, if indeed the island is good or bad, or does it matter?

It's funny because after the first couple of weeks of season 1, the popular thought was that the island was in some way a form of purgatory. Seems like that is how it's playing out in a way.
