Hi all, wondering if anyone with a better ear than I has figured out or can figure out the number "Sunday Afternoon" -- nice little Jeff Austin and Chris Castino ballad of their duo album. And for those who haven't heard the tune yet, go check it out!

Yeah,I'm in the process of figuring it out. I just got a nice F-Style mandolin and have been getting the tune going.
I just got a live show from 2001 with Jeff and Chris at a bar in Madison WI, playing some songs after a show. Its sweet as hell.
I'll put the chords for Sunday afternoon up when its done.
And if anyone wants that show let me know. We'll figure soomething out.

Ok, so I got the chords down for Paul and Silas, I have the melody also for the mandolin part but not the guitar.
I'll post the melody later, I need to tab it out, its all up in my head.
Paul + Silas:
Verse:
D
Paul and Silas locked in jail, All night Long.
C
Paul and Silas Locked in Jail, All night long
D
Paul and Silas Locked in Jail, All night long
G A D
Lord who shall deliver for me
You just keep going like that, its a verry easy song. I'll post the melody up once its all tabs out.
Again thats just for the mandolin, I dont have the melody done for guitar yet.

B A
Eli Renfro killed his wife
E B
With a long sharp bowie knife
E F#
Hacked her up and put her in the ground
B A
Death by hanging was to be his fate
E B
And old Eli filled with hate
E F#
Put a curse on the entire town
Chorus:
B A
Can't you hear, can't you hear
E B
When the moon is bright and clear
B
From time to time
B A
It's old Eli dragging chains
E F#
And moaning peoples names
B A E B
And I hope and I pray that he never thinks of mine
I was walking the high road late last night
The stars were out and the moon was bright
The wind was blowing you could hear for half a mile
Then an awful sound came through the trees
It chilled my blood and it shook my knees
The kinda thing that makes a man run wild
[ Chorus ]
Well if you get home before I do
Don't look back cause I'm coming through
I'm packing my things and I'm headed far away
They say you can't run away from a curse
Maybe this time I'll be the first
Ain't nobody here gonna make me stay
[ Chorus - "and I hope and I pray" x6 ]

sunday afternoon
C#m B A
E A E
I've been drinkin', Momma, since Thursday morning
E A B
Sunday afternoon and all that I've been thinkin
'B
The days are long, and my life can't end too soon
B A E
Just me and this bottle in an empty room
The pictures hung on the wall, they speak of better times
When everything was in harmony, the world a perfect ride
Since the day you left me, my life can't end too soon
Just me and this bottle in an empty room
Your face is in places where we've been
Hauntin' my memory, it all comes floodin' back again
The sun's forever setting, and I'm howling at the moon
Me and this bottle in an empty room
This day break will be my last, ready to go home
To that land of no more trouble and sweet angelic song
I'm tired of always dreaming that my life can't end too soon
Just me and this bottle in an empty room
A B
Yeah this old familiar bottle,
A B
This damn old whiskey bottle
A B
This quickly draining bottle
B A E
In an empty room
note quite how right it is but i think it goes somthing like it

Chorus:
B
I loved you enough to let you go, dear
B F#
I loved you enough to let it ride
B E
I'd hold your little hand in mine
B F# B
But your sweet love died
I know that you've got lots of feelings
Hit me in your heart, dear, down inside
There's one thing that I can't understand
It's the look in your blues eyes
[ Chorus ]
Well I guess that now you'll be going
I guess that I'll be going too
And if another holds you tight
I'll look right at my shoe
[ Chorus ]
Now if you ever need me, darling
Send me your letter by mail
Send it by land, by air, by sea
If I'll show up, I just can't tell
[ Chorus - x2 ]

I am really excited to find this thread! You guys are awesome! I have already started learning The Todd Snyder "Straight White American Male" tune just dont know the tempo.
I'm sure I'll have hours of things to work on out of here without them, but anyone know the chords to Fingerprint or Catch a Criminal?

Catch a Criminal
E //// A //// E // B // E ////
I'm going back to Colorado
With a suitcase and a gun
Gonna find me a desperate woman
And have me a little fun
(Chorus 1)
C B E
When I wake up my eyes are on fire
A B
But my words, they're frozen cold
E A
Ain't it hell, these earthly desires
C B A B
Gonna catch me a criminal
C B E
Gonna catch me a criminal
(instrumental verse)
Gonna lock you up on that mountain
But you can have your run of the town
And if you don't like the look of my gang here
Baby turn your head around
(Chorus 2)
You know angels arrive on fire
But the devils' subliminal
Ain't it hell, these earthly desires
Gonna catch me a criminal
Gotta catch me a criminal
(Instrumental Verse)
Kisses attract thunder
And I walk beneath a touch of gold
And the trouble with living forever
You're never born, son
You're always old
