Your weird dude, penguins are cool creatures, that bare some bad ass weather.

Oh, you continuing the hockey fued, i thought you were actually serious for a second.

Anyhow, lets get this thread back on topic. Any thought on my previous post about a part for us and our friends on private land?

OK, I've been holding off here because I doubt I would be able to attend somthing like this, and I don't want to come off sounding like your Mother or something, but I don't think private land is necessarily the panacea. Maybe if it is a REALLY BIG piece of land such that the playing will be far from anyone else and there is plenty of room for campsites and parking dozens of cars etc., it would be OK. But I imagine that if I volunteered my back-yard for this kind of thing and 30+ cars showed up parked on my street with 60+ hippyish looking folks hanging around for 2 days drinking beer, smoking mother nature, playing guitars and drums until all hours of the night, and likely relieving themselves in the great outdoors, my neighbors just might have a slight problem with that.

Say that a big piece of land could be had for cheap or free and was big enough that an area that is far from others is found suitable, there would also be the issue of power.

Just a few random thoughts.

I like Candyman's idea. but we would need a large stretch of land, and we wouldn't want to depend on generators for all the power, but it's a start

We can play all night long at my friend will's land about an hour and a half south of buffalo. I am pretty sure we could draw power off of his house. We can camp for a whole week end for sure. What i don't understand is if we cant plug into the home, why we can't use generators, especially if the land is super cheep it could be a good compromise. Also there is plenty of room for paintball, hiking, bonfires, drums, beers, food, boomers, etc. I will see to the details and see if we can't set something up.

on private land as long as it isn't open to the public you do not need permits!

LETS GO RED WINGS!!

red wings are on fire!! watch out.

but anyways,

i think the cheap land/generators would be the best idea for us, mainly because we wouldnt need that many, however we might need to start putting gas away before it gets too high!

second, how are we going to go about raising some funds to get the essentials together, I guess donations? or maybe like $15.00 cover for the weekend or something?

third, how many stages? one decent one, two seperate mini-ones, or just random jams all over the place?

fourth, two groups of people, one smaller group being assisted by a slightly larger one. the smaller group can do the times for bands and control different aspects of the festy, then the others can just relay questions and stuff to them.

lets make this happen, it would be a cool summer event and we definitely have the capacity and smarts to put it together. rukind reunion, here we go!

sixth: congrats space :D

I don't know that my full band could make it, but I'd sure as hell try... and do my best to drag the rest along.

Just a couple of thoughts on previous posts:

I don't think tying this to a school system fundraiser is a very good idea.. considering the vast amount of partying that will be going on. Just not a good fit. Though I like the idea of working for a greater good - and benefit shows are pretty much the only ones my group plays these days - Buffalo schools is a little too narrow a focus, plus I don't know that this would be a big fundraiser anyway, because...

This is likely to be all about US, the players, having a good time. I liken it to other boards where I am a member or admin having annual gatherings to hang out with like-minded folks from afar.

Just my $.03 (as always, adjusted for inflation).

I couldn't agree more with Chuckles.
Just my $.001 adjusted for inflation and then for general lack of ability and knowledge and maybe a weak arse dollar.?.

I have seen it work well with other boards. So I think it is a great Idea. The first problem always seems to be the Venue. Once that gets sorted things seem to go fairly well.

I am not in a band or looking to be in one but I do like to play with new people and this is just the thing. Plus I think it is cool to check out other peoples gear get some cool Ideas. I could see it as a ruKind-fest Thinktank hits the road. Maybe?
.
As far as advance planning--->One Idea?
Maybe a set list of say 15 - 20 songs just as a start for any loose jams. So a guy like me could at least passably practice 5 (prolly only 3) songs good enough to play with others.
And, Not to include only Dead tunes but easy stuff like maybe Blues in E
or blues in Am.?
I dunno? just ideas rolling around my head. . .

I think it would be great 'cause generally as a group deadheads and more specifically deadhead musicians are great bunch with lots of positive energy and I really like that!
